Project leaders and children involved in ten innovative child health projects – winners and runners up of the five categories - attended the Health for Kids awards reception at number 10 Downing Street, hosted by the Prime Minister, on 23rd June 2009. Winners were presented with an award plaque and certificate as well as receiving £1000 from Health for Kids for their project.
The Prime Minister said: “I am delighted to welcome the Health for Kids award winners and runners up to Downing Street today to celebrate the fantastic contribution they are making to children's health and wellbeing."
“We know how important it is to make sure young people get off to the best possible start in life which is why we launched our Child Health Strategy earlier this year and will continue to invest in initiatives such as our Change4Life programme and Sure Start Centres to support children and parents to lead a healthier lifestyle.
“All of the Health for Kids award winners have come up with innovative ways to encourage youngsters to lead healthier and happier lives, whether it’s through healthy eating, getting more active or raising awareness of the dangers associated with drugs and alcohol. The great work they are doing is making a real difference to young people and I would like to congratulate them all.”
